Synopsis:

Synopsis: This is a special series on the fight against corruption in Africa. It was produced in conjunction with the African Union and uses drama, and documentary style, with the participation of over 100 experts across 40 African countries. It showcases key issues, trends, and best practices in the fight against corruption in Africa 10 years post the African Union Convention on Combatting and Preventing Corruption. This production is presented in an objective and non-controversial manner.

The series has 13 episodes that cover a number of pertinent issues in the fight against corruption, such as procurement, private sector, civil society, public sector, education sector, anti-corruption institutions in Africa, effective enforcement, regional collaboration, African Union Youth Concert, asset declaration, extractive sector, political will and the 10th Anniversary of the AU Convention.

Greening the Future

Synopsis:

Within the African context, there are opportunities for sustained growth and socioeconomic development through sustainable Agri-business practices. For instance, Africa is endowed with enormous human and natural resources, yet it continues to struggle with poverty and inability to translate its agricultural endowment to sustainable wealth. As a result, people on the continent live in hunger, while unemployment continues to rise. Issues of corruption, poor governance and climate change underpin this. Influence Africa is partnering with the African Institute of Corporate Citizenship (AICC) in promoting sustainable agri-business in Africa as a major leverage for attaining the Sustainable Development Goals regarding poverty reduction.

Made in Africa

Produced by Influence Africa and the African Business Leaders Forum, Made in Africa is a TV show that focuses on doing business in Africa and the future of African businesses. The show looks at the long-term growth and competitiveness of Africa; intra-African trade and the opportunity provided by the African  Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA); the enabling environment for promoting small businesses; and the inclusive business environment in Africa for promoting the participation of youth and women.

NEPAD Spanish Fund for African Women Empowerment

Synopsis:

The socio-cultural environment in Africa is among the factors that have influenced the participation rate of women and men both in the public and private spheres. Whereas there are significant local and national particularities, roles assigned to men and women are largely socioculturally pre-determined and different. It is, therefore, important to include gender in all aspects of the process if development programs are to be effective, that is, from assessment, design, and implementation, to monitoring and

evaluation. This is a special programme that showcases the efforts of the NEPAD Agency, which is the implementing arm of the African Union, towards providing additional resources to support women empowerment in Africa, through funding and technical support to 78 projects in several countries across sub-Saharan Africa.

Basket of water

Synopsis:

Produced in conjunction with TrustAfrica, “Basket of Water: The Secret Behind Africa’s Under-development” explores illicit financial flows out of Africa in a captivating, entertaining, educative and informative manner. The production is narrated by award-winning South African and Nigerian esteemed music icons: Judith Sephuma and Femi Kuti. This production has been filmed in over 20 African countries, covering continental and international voices from organizations such as Global Financial Integrity in Washington DC, The Tax Justice Network in Africa, Financial Transparency Coalition as well as other key institutions with regards to the theme. The film aims to complement and engage with ongoing initiatives on Illicit Financial Flows and where possible, creating new platforms for engagement and advocacy for change in practice. It also seeks to show the impact of the scourge on ordinary African citizens, so as to find ways of strengthening the spotlight on the subject and to enhance awareness, participation and engagement by multi-stakeholders.

Synopsis:

Youth & Democrazy

This is a mini-series on youth and agriculture in Africa. It was produced in conjunction with UNDP.  It showcases how youths perceive agriculture, their interest and challenges in participation, and their career aspirations.

No man’s land  

Synopsis:

This is a special documentary mini-series on land grabs, as a major economic governance issue facing Africa. The documentary film mini-series looks at land grabs and how it affects everything from Governments, big business to the man, woman and youths in the local community. With in-depth case studies from Ghana and Benin Republic, the mini-series highlights the impact of these issues on the lives of ordinary citizens, including women, youths, children and the most vulnerable as well as the respective country’s long-term growth and socio-economic development. The film mini-series highlights the true situation but at the same time create a far greater awareness about the problems and risks posed by land grabs e.g. further impoverishing the sub-region and degrading the environment, creating more conflicts and socio-cultural and public health vulnerabilities.

 BUSA

Mentoring program on business integrity

Synopsis:

This is a mini-series on Business Integrity.  BUSA in partnership with the department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA) and the Danish Embassy, is implementing a programme to promote business integrity in South Africa. The programme promotes business integrity through developing and implementing national- anti-corruption training, as well as a communication awareness campaign for the South African business sector. As part of this initiative, BUSA is rolling out a mentoring programme on  business integrity, with the purpose of mobilizing mentees from BUSA’s structures and networks linking them to business leaders who will act as mentors for the duration of the programme. Our intention is that through this mentoring programme, our rising entrepreneurs and business managers will have the opportunity to interacting with and being mentored by key business leaders. We hope that both the mentors and mentees will learn from each other as their businesses grow, they too grow into increasingly accountable, transparent, well-governed businesses that model business integrity and serve as a solid basis for liberating our society from the scourge of corruption.

This is a special documentary mini-series on Disaster risk reduction. It looks at the four different types of disasters such as natural disaster, environmental disaster, complex emergencies and pandemics on how they affect human health and disrupt our day-to-day business operations should they occur. These disasters can be prevented and managed if we have a proper disaster risk plan in place.
