In South Africa, the promotion of previously disadvantaged communities and groups, including youth and women, into emerging entrepreneurs has increasingly become significant since small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) have come to play an increasingly important role in South Africa's economy and development. This 18 minute presentation, focuses on the challenges currently faced by SMMEs and what role the government and the private sector can play to enable the previously disadvantaged communities; the unemployed and prospective business owners to play leading roles in the economy and to be able to compete favourably.
