Vusi Maupa

Vusi Maupa holds an Honours degree in Public Administration from the University of Pretoria. He is currently Master’s candidate in Municipal Administration and has successfully completed the University of Pretoria Vice-Chancellor’s Entrepreneurship Development Program aimed at equipping graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to become entrepreneurs within their field of expertise in order to address some of the issues that are faced by the local economy. This programme has helped him to establish a small business based in Pretoria.

His active involvement in various University and community leadership structures, such as residence leadership and student parliament, has groomed him to become an advocate of ethics in leadership and young entrepreneurs. In 2009, this talented young leader found a youth leadership development organisation known as the Foundation for Ethical Youth Leadership (FEYL), registered under the Non-profit Organisation Act, 1997. The FEYL has established a student chapter in the University of Pretoria and the University of Fort Hare. The FEYL has received great media spotlight in various SABC radio stations including SA FM, Ikwekwezi and Motsweding FM.

Vusi, through the FEYL organisation, has been vocal about youth and youth issues in South African media. His voice is familiar in the ears of many listeners of Ikwekwezi FM – SABC radio station based in Pretoria and broadcasting in IsiNdebele. His media participation includes his exclusive interview on SA FM Morning Talk show as well as his creative article published in the SABC Education website as a special feature for Mandela day on the 18th July 2012.

Vusi is proud to be part of the Influence Africa and believe that the Influence Africa holds a brighter future for the youth of South Africa and Africa. He believes that the warmth of tomorrow’s coldness lies in the youth’s effort to start the fire today.
