Corporate Social Responsibility

corpInfluence Africa’s understanding of the CSR environment has been driven by a significant appreciation of the socio-economic environment and a strong knowledge of the resource gaps and pressing needs of communities and people around us. This has informed our strategic focus and key leverage areas in:

  • facilitating training in key socio-cultural thematic areas including healthcare, education, youth empowerment, sports and public infrastructure and local economic development;
  • facilitating stakeholder engagement and responsiveness;
  • research;
  • review of case studies; and
  • building networks and partnerships with leading organisations in addressing CSR issues.

Corp social responsibility94Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR is a strategic undertaking through which companies exercise responsibility and accountability for the economic, social and environmental impact of their business decisions and behaviours. King III describes it as “the responsibility of the company for the impacts of its decisions and activities on society and the environment through transparent and ethical behaviour that: contributes to sustainable development, including health and the welfare of society; takes into account the legitimate interests and expectations of stakeholders; is in compliance with applicable law and consistent with international norms of behaviour; and is integrated throughout the company and practiced in its relationships”.
